Description

Model 10090 is a weatherproof heated inlet tube module designed to be mounted on top of an instrument enclosure to reduce incoming air sample RH to an acceptable level for low flow OEM particulate sensor applications, and has been successfully integrated by several other instrument manufacturers. When ambient humidity exceeds about 50 percent RH, airborne particles tend to swell or aggregate, causing artificially high PM mass measurements. This is a significant challenge for real time measurement methods.

The 12V DC heater element operates at approximately 10 Watts, and is sufficient for instruments operating at flow rates of up to 5 L/min under most ambient conditions. The element is self-regulating and no thermostat is required, although the user can implement more sophisticated RH control schemes involving PWM or proportional control, or by adding downstream RH or temperature sensors if needed. Testing should be done under the expected ambient conditions to ensure that proper RH control is achieved. An instruction manual is available.

The 14 inch long, ½ inch diameter inlet tube is compatible with our 2 L/min mini cyclones and mini TSP Inlets. The bottom of the inlet tube is compatible with standard ½ inch push-to-connect or Swagelok type tube connections. The inlet tube has up to 1.4 inches (35mm) of vertical adjustment range within the insulated 10.5 inch tall housing. Two model versions are available with different mounting options. Model 10090-1 mounts to your enclosure with two 8-32 screws and an o-ring seal. This only requires one 0.75 inch diameter hole and two small screw holes in the enclosure roof. Model 10090-2 Has a M30x2 metric male threaded base and an o-ring seal for easier inlet installation and removal. This version requires the instrument manufacturer to supply a suitable M30 threaded socket for the top of the enclosure, or we can supply custom adapters separately.
