Description
Alaric Model AE1S is a premium 16.7 L/min PM1 cyclone for use on air particulate samplers or monitors when a smaller 1 micron particulate cut point is required. The AE1S mechanical design is based on our premium model AE2.5V PM2.5 cyclone. The main body is machined from a single piece of aluminum for perfect inlet/outlet concentricity, and is about half the total weight of other cyclones in this class. The design contains only four machined parts and five o-rings, significantly reducing leakage potential. The unique radiused transfer tube flow path downstream of the vortex has no sharp angles or particulate collection points, and can be fully accessed for cleaning. Model AE1S is the same 6.5 inch height as WINS Impactors or sharp-cut cyclones, and fits into the inlet stack of most particulate samplers or continuous PM monitors which use 1.25 inch diameter inlet components.
Airborne particles larger than 1 micron in size are separated by the tangential-entry vortex and retained in the particle trap, while the smaller particles pass through to the sampling instrument. Model AE1S is designed based on the classic and well-characterized Sharp-Cut Cyclone scientific design model, and is not a mechanical copy of any other cyclone.
