Description
Model AE2.5-2 is a premium PM2.5 mini cyclone for use on nephelometers and other particulate samplers or monitors operating at the 2.0 L/min flow rate, and was designed to eliminate problems found on older cyclones in this class. The inlet and outlet are aligned along the same axis, providing better balance in the inlet stack and reducing the total size and mass. Model AE2.5-2 is 3.7 inches tall and weighs 3.6 oz.
Model AE2.5-2 is designed to the original PM2.5 Sharp-Cut Cyclone scientific design model and critical dimensions. Airborne particles larger than 2.5 microns in size are separated by the vortex and are retained in the particle trap cap, while the smaller particles pass through to the sampling instrument. The D50 cut point performance curve of this cyclone has been lab tested at the specified 2.0 L/min actual airflow rate. The inlet and outlet socket are standard ½ inch (12.7mm) diameter, and are compatible with our line of ½ inch inlet stack components. We can supply adapters for inlet tubes of different sizes, and for push-to-connect or Swagelok tube fitting. Note: Cyclones are not intended to serve as the primary air entry point. A rain cap or TSP inlet such as our models 10085 or 10400 must be used on top of the cyclone to prevent water and large debris from entering.
